Health and safety

Interserve Project Services attaches the highest importance to health and safety, which is considered an integral part of all business functions - not just an appendage to them.

Our proactive approach has proved effective, has lead to responsible safety attitudes in all employees at every level, has engendered a positive safety culture throughout the organisation and is managed down to sub-contractors engaged on our projects.

We aim to identify hazards at the earliest time within a project and, wherever possible, to remove those hazards, rather than allowing a hazardous situation to demand a reactive solution. Safety is therefore considered from project inception and throughout all subsequent stages.

Whilst managers are responsible for safety, all staff share this responsibility according to their role, duties and experience, supported by an extensive and structured training programme to develop a disciplined attitude towards all activities.  We have developed a comprehensive safety management system, which has achieved external certification to the standard OHSAS 18001, "Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems-Specification".

We employ dedicated and trained safety specialists to spearhead our commitment to safe working systems and monitor operations through inspections and audits, producing appropriate records and reports.

Did you know?
Safety statistics show that our accident record is significantly better than the national average.

However, we strive to reduce accidents in the belief that all are preventable. RoSPA have recognised our track record through their awards to us, with Gold Awards in 1999, 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004 - and Gold Medals in 2005 and 2006.  But we are not complacent and continue to develop our approach, systems and controls to reduce accidents in all our undertakings.
