Plc  >  Social responsibility  >  Raw Material Use

Our choice of raw materials impacts on the social, economic and environmental issues of sustainable development.

Informed and prudent choices such as ethical trading, reducing the use of non-renewable resources and the three R's - Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, have always been important to us and form a key part of our approach to Sustainable Procurement.

Sustainability in practice

We work closely with our suppliers to introduce sustainable products or processes, which also help our clients achieve their own sustainability targets:
  • Enzyme-based urinal cubes allow a waterless urinal without the usual capital investment.  Their use has lead to an annual water saving of over £9,000 and a carbon saving of 3,185kg per annum, based on a single site of 50 urinals.
  • Effective dosing control systems for cleaning products coupled with the use of organic based cleaning systems are reducing waste and chemical pollution. The products have lower COSHH ratings meaning they are safer and simpler to use and store and there is no added pollutant to the waste-water stream.
