Plc  >  Social responsibility  >  Being

The health and wellbeing of our employees and indeed that of clients and communities, is very much part of our sustainable development and Corporate Social Responsibility.

We ensure sound governance of our business and respect diversity and equality. We operate Quality, Health & Safety and Environmental Management Systems, certified to ISO 9001, OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001 respectively.

We encourage the support of charities, the employment of local personnel and where  possible the use of local suppliers.

Sustainability in practice

  • The Group selects a charity every two years and makes an annual donation.  Individual business Units are encouraged to run charitable events either for the Group charity or for a local cause.  We currently support Shelter and before then raised almost £90,000 for Childline.
  • Project Services' Stockton office sponsors a local school through the Children's Safety Education Foundation, providing them with an educational programme on safety including bullying, first aid, road safety, drug, alcohol and solvent misuse, vandalism, fire safety, car crime and anti-social behaviour
  • We supported the Metropolitan Police's Junior Citizen programme, an annual event aimed at year-6 children which aims to teach skills for handling emergency situations such as fire safety, home safety, strangers and vandalism.
  • Interserve at Silverburn are part of Glasgow City Council's 'Clean Glasgow' agenda, combating issues such as graffiti, litter and rubbish dumping.
  • A major recruitment drive is part of our approach at our new Newcastle Hospitals contract, enhancing employment opportunities in Newcastle.
