Interserve has a significant track record in the education sector, where it strives to provide quality, attractively designed buildings which Governors, teachers and pupils alike will have pride in. Our aim is to create positive, motivating environments that are serviced effectively and efficiently – enabling the schools to concentrate on what is important: the delivery of education.

Within this sector Interserve operates as The Pyramid Schools Consortium. This team, which is now well established, utilises the Group's capability to undertake the core PFI services in-house. In doing so, it maximises the potential to learn from experience, and uses this to benefit future projects.

The Pyramid Schools Consortium has reached Financial Close on the following projects, all of which are fully operational:

• Sheffield Schools - 6 schools
• Southampton Schools - 3 schools
• Tameside Schools - 3 schools

The Pyramid Schools Consortium has two further projects currently under construction : 

In September 2006 the £95m Cornwall Schools PFI 2 Project which was signed in March 2004 handed over the Richard Lander School, completing one part of this major project. Click here to read the press release.

The Hadley Learning Community Project in Telford & Wrekin which was signed on 21 March 2005 also had the first phase opening ceremony by the Mayor of Telford & Wrekin in September 2006. Click here to read the press release.

The Pyramid Schools Consortium were also announced Preferred Bidder on 8 June 2006 for the Plymouth Schools PFI Project. Construction will begin at the beginning of 2007 for Plymouth's First 'All-Through' School. Click here to read the press release.

In Northern Ireland Interserve has formed The Belfast Educational Services Consortium with O'Hare & McGovern. Together we have reached Financial Close on three projects to date:

• Dungannon College, County Tyrone - signed and under construction
• Omagh College, County Tyrone - signed and under construction
• St Genevieve's High School, Belfast - fully operational
