Facilities Services > News > Building apprentices for the future Building apprentices for the future 21 Nov 2007 Apprentices from the National Construction College (Scotland) celebrated their graduation this summer at its 2007 annual awards ceremony. The ceremony recognises the accomplishments of all its apprentices, with a select few being presented with awards for achievement; including Apprentice of the Year, Health and Safety Award, and Best in Class for all trade categories. Interserve employees Stephen Burden and Jonathan Campbell were both presented with awards at the ceremony. Stephen Burden received the Scaffolding Apprentice of the Year award and Jonathan Campbell was presented with 1st year Nominees Award for Scaffolding. “The winning of these awards demonstrates the dedication and commitment that Stephen and Jonathan have applied both in their training and in their work. I would like to congratulate both Stephen and Jonathan; and wish them continued success for the future,” said Bruce Melizan, Managing Director, Interserve FM Ltd. Interserve employees are often rewarded for the particular effort they display on site. Another example is Stephen Robbins who won a Satellite Navigation System for his extensive knowledge of British Energy’s Torness plant and nuclear procedures. Stephen was interviewed by the NII inspectors who were impressed with his extensive knowledge as well as his positive ‘questioning attitude’. Stephen asked various questions of the inspectors, who then made a point of speaking to his supervisor about the high quality of his knowledge. |
