Facilities Services > News > Award hat trick for Interserve Award hat trick for Interserve 26 Nov 2007 Landmarc Support Services, the joint venture between Interserve Defence and CSC Applied Technology Division, has been named the Overall Winner of the 2007 Premises and Facilities Management (PFM) Partnership Awards. Interserve also scooped two further awards at the prestigious ceremony on November 6 at The Brewery in London. Landmarc Support Services Limited was crowned the Overall Winner for its work with Defence Estates on the MoD’s Defence Training Estate (DTE), after already picking up the award for Partners in Multi-Service earlier that evening. Landmarc Support Services Limited was created in February 2003, specifically to deliver Project Vanguard - a bold new way of providing facilities management and support services across the MOD’s nationwide Defence Training Estate. Landmarc’s services are wide ranging and include support to military field firing range operations; property and infrastructure maintenance; rural estate maintenance; land agency; catering, environmental and conservation support along with traditional accommodation services support. The judges commended “this winning partnership to be amongst the most varied in terms of the services provided and most geographically spread of any that has been judged in these awards. Landmarc and DTE have addressed these challenges with a positive attitude and real expertise". Col J H’ O’H Pollock MBE, Director DTE, said: “The strategic partnership between DTE and Landmarc has worked hard to ensure a seamless delivery of services to Defence users. Landmarc’s innovative approach has seen significant improvements and efficiencies across the estate, in information management; in the support given to military training and in the way catering services are provided, all to the benefit of both parties.” The award comes on top of Landmarc’s earlier triumph in the BIFM awards for the refurbishment and implementation of energy efficiency measures in barrack accommodation blocks at Brunswick Camp at Pirbright. Interserve also won in the Partners in Public Service category for its work with Croydon Council. In a seven-year contract with the council, the largest in London, the portfolio covers a listed town hall, office complexes, libraries, restaurants, sheltered housing, care homes, community centres, crematoria and cemeteries. Services include building maintenance, security, cleaning, catering, mailroom, reprographics, energy and utilities management, room booking, porterage and major and minor projects. In the first year of operation, efficiencies of 20% were achieved (£2m p.a.), enabling the council to redirect savings into front line service delivery. Tony Middleton, Divisional Director, Asset and Facilities Management, at Croydon Council said: “This award recognises the commitment to high quality and innovative services shown by Interserve and the Council’s facilities management team, both leading up to commencement of the contract and during the first year of this very special partnership.” The judges commended “the clear and trusting relationship between Interserve and Croydon Council has demonstrated efficiencies and is expanding as time goes on. The model is recognised as one that other Councils could adopt”. Bruce Melizan, Managing Director, Interserve FM added: “These latest accolades at the PFM Awards build on what has been a highly successful year for Interserve. Earlier this year, we were presented with the RoSPA Facilities Management Sector award for safe working practices, and we’ve also just picked up the Overall Award at the Golden Service awards. To receive all three major awards is incredible! We’re extremely pleased to be recognised in these prestigious awards and it is incredibly rewarding for the teams involved and they thoroughly deserve this recognition.” |
