A Korean Double

2 Apr 2007

RMD Kwikform’s Korean division has been rising above the competition, whilst helping to fuel a boom in the gas market, thanks to its involvement in two prestigious contracts.

The first uses its innovative new safety screen system, specially designed for the Korean market to assist with the construction of two new We’ve Poseidon II 34 storey high rise concrete apartments, in the city of Bucheon, west of Seoul.

Built by Korean Construction giants Doosan Industrial Development, the use of the sophisticated Safety Screen system was essential in order to meet the strict health and safety guidelines set out for the development.

At the same time the safety screens were in use, other members if RMD Kwikform’s Korean team were busy helping to fuel the boom in gas consumption in the city of Incheon, a major seaport on the west coast of South Korea, also near Seoul.

Having global expertise in this specialist field, RMD Kwikform Korea were able to fight off stiff competition to provide the specially designed trapezoidal formwork system to work on the new tanks. The 75 metre high twin tanks have both been designed with an inside diameter of 36 metres, giving the cylindrical concrete structures a total capacity of 2,000,000 KL each, which equates to the total volume of one LNG transporter ship, used to bring in supplies of the gas from producers all over the globe.
