RMD Kwikform Ireland has won the contract for the formwork for the 1.9km cut and cover sections of the new €448m Dublin Bay tunnel project being constructed by the Nishimatsu/Mowlem/Irishenco consortium.

The company is supplying a solution that utilises its Megashor high load capacity shoring and steel faced formwork that was specially designed for the project.

The cut and cover sections of the of twin 11-metre diameter tunnel are at the southern end of the project, where the new road crosses Fairview Park, and at the northern end adjacent to Ellenfield Park, joining the M50 and N1/M1 motorways at Santry. Formwork supply started in October last year and the 5.6km dual carriageway is due to be opened in the summer of 2005.
