RMD Kwikform shores up its future in Spain

RMD Kwikform (Iberica) is citing a recent spate of orders as evidence that its adaptability - in terms of both systems and service - its technical competence and global expertise are the basis for its continuing success in Spain. Recently the company has provided solutions as diverse technically as they are geographically; from the Sierrapando Tunnel in the north, to large water storage tanks in the south east of the country, to the Iruena Dam project in the west.

A factor common to all of the projects is said to be the company's ability to provide solutions to formwork and falsework problems that utilise standard products, giving the customer the dual benefits of fast and secure availability and the most cost effective package. On the Sierrapando Tunnel, for example, Super Slim Soldiers - the backbone of the RMD Kwikform range - were used to construct a traveller, which was hired to the contractor. Likewise, when the city council of Alicun needed a cost-efficient method of constructing a number of large water tanks, the winning combination incorporated the standard RMD Kwikform Curved Form system that was pre-assembled, prior to being hired to the authority's contractor.

However, it was RMD Kwikform's global expertise that, it is claimed, gave the company the edge when constructing the Iruena Dam. The project called for a combination of climbing formwork - with easy adjustment in any direction - and highly adaptable and easy to erect and remove tunnel formwork. With proven international dam building experience on projects such as the Balambano Dam and the Batu Hijau Project in Indonesia and the Pak Panang Dam in Thailand, the company had recent experience on which to call.

Not that RMD Kwikform's experience in Spain is limited to new build projects. When renovations were planned for the Gothic Catedral de Santa Maria de Calahorra, the company devised a Super Slim Soldiers solution that readily adapted to both the cathedral's complex internal architecture and its function as a place of worship.
